Transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) are fatal neurodegenerative diseases in sheep and goats (scrapie), bovine spongiform encephalopathy in cattle (BSE), chronic wasting disease in cervids (CWD), feline spongiform encephalopathy in cats (FSE) and transmissible mink encephalopathy in minks (TME).
