National Reference Laboratory for Filoviruses (Marburg/Ebola virus)

The INEID will build up the national reference laboratories for Filoviruses (Marburg/Ebola virus) in animals. Because labs of security level 3 – 4 are not fully available, only molecular diagnostic will be carried out. Meanwhile we have established several qRT-PCR assays for these viruses and started a collaboration with the OIE referencelab (M. Bouloy, Pasteur Institute, Paris), with the Bernhardt-Nocht-Institut (Hamburg, Germany) and with Janusz Paweska (NICD Sandringham, Südafrika) in order to clarify diagnostic findings
